Football is back, and it doesn’t get much bigger than this: the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. These two division rivals, like every matchup in the NFC East, come with decades of bad blood. You can feel the tension whether you’re at home or in the stadium. You see it in the trenches, you hear it in the crowd. Games like this are where a teams toughness is tested.
This years energy feels different. It truly feels like anything could happen, so many moves across the league, new faces, new coordinators, injuries that could swing momentum, mid season trades.. So let’s not waste time. let’s dive in.

at the Linc on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Philly’s raising banner
The line is sitting around Eagles -8.5 with a total ~47–48 as of midweek

Saquan Barkley and The New Philly Offense

Situational Football
The Trenches
These two teams are heavily talented up front on both sides of the ball making this a physical showdown Up front, the Eagles keep the band together enough to matter. RT Lane Johnson sets the edge standard, Jordan Mailata at LT gives you the cinderblock on the other side, Cam Jurgens is your center. The Question marks for this primetime game will be new right guard Tyler Steen and RG Landon Dickerson, Dickerson will play but has been dealing with a back issue all camp { Keep an eye on inactives} Dallas Goedert (groin) is off the injury report and good to go, which unlocks their 12-personnel counters when teams try to nickel Saquon.
The Defenses
Eagles : a Fangio unit with fresh legs on the back end.
Corners Quinyon Mitchell the second year CB Adoree' Jackson and Cooper DeJean the hybrid CB, gives them length and speed. Safety looks feature rookie Andrew Mukuba a nd vet Sydney Brown rotating with Reed Blankenship holding down the fort . Up front, Jalen Carter is the point of the spear, Jordan Davis eats doubles, and Moro Ojomo will bring the speed. LB Jerimiah Trotter Jr or Jihaad Campbell an instant-impact rookie; important note: Nakobe Dean has been on PUP and not a Week-1 factor. The original plan was for him to be ready reality is he’s not in this one. Let us not forget about Jaylx Hunt.
Cowboys : still have Osa Odighizuwa (he’s #97 , not Mazi ). DaRon Bland is a playmaker at corner, Trevon Diggs is trending toward suiting up after cartilage cleanup, and DeMarvion Overshown (ACL last season) has been working back he’s been ruled out for Week 1. Dante Fowler and Samuel Williams are your edge rotation;
KaVontae Turpin remains the field-position wildcard in the return game.
OL DL Matchups
In a blockbuster trade right before the season Dallas sent edge rusher Micah Parsons to Green Bay in exchange for Kenny Clark who spent most of the 24-25 season battiling injuries. Clarck and Poona Ford will be the run stopping replacemnets to Micah Parsons. Dallas chose to go heavier with steady interior dline and are banking on still being able to get home to the quarterback with the other members of the roster. This all will have to change how the Eagles Attacks Dallas, more duo and counter to dent the A/B gaps, then set up the glance/post shots to Brown and smith off play-action. If Clark wins early downs, Philly answers with pin-pull and outside zone to make him run. If he doesn’t, it’s a 30-carry Saquon night and the building never sits down. Simple.

Trench Truths
Eagles OL vs Cowboys DL : Steen is the name to circle if you’re Dallas. Line up Clark shaded and force double decisions.
If Philly handles that, the Cowboys will need stunts/twists from Fowler + Osa to manufacture pressure.
This is a statemnt game for the Cowboys remaining DL this season every game is.
Cowboys OL vs Eagles DL: First NFL start for Tyler Guyton and first NFL action for Tyler Booker welcome to Carter /Ojomo . Expect Dallas to slide the center to Carter on passing downs, chip Fowler with the TE, and lean on play-action/quick game to keep the snap-to-throw tight.
Important Plays
Philly :
- Counter/GT with Barkley bending backside once Clark overplays.
- Glance/RPO to A.J. when Dallas rotates late or sits in off-quarters.
- TE leak/Y-hide to Goedert after a few heavy looks. (Huge now that he’s cleared.)
Dallas :
- Dagger to Lamb vs quarters; it’s the Fangio beater if you protect it.
- Go ball/back-shoulder to Pickens against Mitchell—force the ref to make a call if it’s grabby.
- Split-flow outside zone to Swift to stress the edges and slow Uche.

Betting corner numbers move these are the current themes
- Spread/total: Eagles -8.5, O/U ~47.5.
If you like Dallas, you’re betting on OL coherence + Dak’s timing + red-zone stops.
If you like Philly, you’re betting the trenches and Saquon wearing them down.
- Props that match the story: Jalen Hurts over 1.5 pass TDs makes sense if Dallas has to spin down to stop the run. Saquon Barkley rushing yards/attempts overs if Philly leads; books are already shading his all-purpose numbers up after last season. Dak pass attempts over in trailing scripts (Schottenheimer will still let him rip if they’re chasing). Anytime TD: Dallas Goedert is live if Dallas floods A.J./Saquon. Sacks: Eagles DL vs rookie tackle .....
What HookedMedia Thinks
Dallas will look more grown-up on offense right away. defined reads, a little more under-center, and some real patience to live in second n manageable. But Philly’s front + a live home crowd in a banner game is a lot to ask of two rookie starters on the OL. If Diggs is limited or not 100%, Philly won’t need to get gimmicky to find explosives. I’ve got the Eagles leaning on duo/counter early, then punishing with in-breakers once Dallas starts stealing gaps. Eagles by one score to two , with Dallas showing enough to feel better about the long view.
